Umi Sushi & Hibachi Grill

"Love the sushi. It isn't many places to choose from in Chalmette, and this my go too. I ordered my fav 3 rolls and noodles every time! I was a little bummed tonight, I forgot to order my spicy mayo and eel sauce. And don't you hate when you forget, but remember as they swipe the card. And of course I didn't bring my coin purse. I asked the server if I could have it on the house and she smiled oh so sweetly and said no. Very much in every right to do so. She kindly pointed down to the faded napkin that said .50 for extra sauces. I just simply replied, as less than 15 mins remain on the shift, if they could spare one eel sauce, add they were out of the mayo ,on the house. She again, smiled and said no. I mean hey what's .50 to someone who spent $27 on a meal. But take this bit of Lagniappe I'll spare, that would've been the perfect moment to make a customer happy with a simple sauce. A .50 expense, my gosh. I'll remember to bring a purse inside next time I order take out, I'll have to forget this experience before I return."

"Always a fun show, I appreciate any food anywhere, but when it's cooked right in front of you... Oh... *Chef's kiss* Portions are enough for lunch and supper the next day. Also got a Who Dat and Mid city roll to-go, which were both still great the next day."

"The food was delicious. The staff was very accommodating. We had our special needs grandchild. Her food diet is very very limited. Tonight she ate shrimp for the very first time (she's 13) and even ate her chicken meal. They made sure she was comfortable to the point of changing the television for her. Not one condescending attitude. Which is so rare these days."

"Great Hibachi Restaurant. The food is amazing I set by the Hibachi Grill and placed an order of the Grilled Salmon dinner with Hibachi rice, vegetables, grilled shrimp and a Plum Sake drink. I love the taste of Sake and tried the Plum flavor for the first time nice and smooth taste. The cook was very impressive and entertaining while cooking the dishes. He gave a sample of the rice to make sure it was great to my liking. I will be back again. I wish I would have took more photos and even videos. I just realized now I can add video clips to my profile Look forward to sharing more details of my next journey."

"We stopped by this restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday 11/6/18. We're from Miami and were in town for the week and I think our expectations were too high (We're used to Benihana). For one, we appreciated the quantity of food we received but the place in general wasn't too clean. There was a sink right next to our table. The table we sat at was dirty and had rice on the seats! The chef was nice but he cooked our food with an extremely dirty apron. Our food was decent but not up to par but then again I may have lost my appetite due to the lack of cleanliness. I wasn't pleased with overall experience but I must say the staff were courteous and again they gave a lot of food."

"I always come here. I come from the westbank. As I'm sitting in the restaurant writing this review, I'm getting more upset. I made reservations for 6 for the hibachi. This was 4 people in my party first time. When we arrived, an older lady was about to seat my party. The younger hostess came up and seated some people even though we were here for our reservation. Highly disappointed."
